If you are a real estate agent, you know that the information in your MLS is ony as accurate as the person that input that info. So I'm sure it comes as no surprise that the info on Localism is only as accurate as the person that input it........sort of.
The cities in Localism are part of a data set that we originally ran with over two years ago when we launched ActiveRain. Every community is something that has been added by our members. So there may be inconsistencies in the data set we originally launched with regarding cities. There are certainly inconsistencies in the communities that have been added since.
Let me tell you how we are going to deal with the errors. If there is an error in city level data in your area, please leave a comment here explaining that error in detail. I'll need the state, the current county it appears in, and the county it should appear in. If the city does not appear currently, then I will only need the details of where it should appear.
Once I have that information, I will work with the programmers to fix any city discrepancies.
The neighborhood data is going to be handled a little differently. If there are inconsistencies in the neighborhood data, they will sort themselves out over time. I know this may drive some of you crazy, but because this content is user generated, we are going to depend on our users to sort it out.
How will this happen you ask?
Currently, when you go to a city on Localism, there is a tag cloud of 'popular communities' on the right hand side. That cloud sorts from top to bottom based on the amount of content being contributed to a certain community. The community with the most content is larger and toward the top. Over time, the neighborhoods/communities that don't have content being contributed to them will atrophy to the point that they will be tiny little tags far removed from anything anyone will see.
Please do not leave any comments on this post that do not directly deal with city issues that need to be rectified. As much as I love your comments, I am going to have to delete any wayward ones so that Jorgen and I can quickly asses each error and move to fix them. If you have a question, please email me directly.
Again, do not post a comment unless it is to specifically address an issue with a city on Localism. Thanks.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but here goes!
Clark County, NV:
Green Valley is not a city but more of a master planned community within the city of Henderson
Willow Beach, Callville Bay, Echo Bay is a marina off of lake mead = not a city
Calico Ridge is a community in the city of Henderson = not a city
McCarran Airport = airport, not a city
Valley of Fire = state park, not a city
Get those cleaned up and I will give you more errors! Those are the ones that have been bugging me forever!
Saint Paul, in Marion County, Oregon should be written as St. Paul
Mount Angel in Marion County, Oregon should be written as Mt. Angel
Brooks, Butteville, Marion, Mehama (this is the Lyons part of the city that sits in Marion county that is referenced above), Monitor, Saint Benedict (is a monestary), Saint Louis (should be written as St. Louis), and West Stayon are unincorporated communities in Marion county and not cities.
Move Rickreall, Polk County oregon from the cities into the communities.
There are out of state agents - listed as the - Top Neighbors - in Keauhou, Hawaii - thats in Hawaii County. This is a city problem - just not sure if this is what your looking for
REMOVE CONNECTICUT STATE PRISON, CT . There is no such city!
Forgot to say thank you :-)
Is this what you are looking for?
I left an earlier comment today with John about the Chicago area.
I have noticed that when you click on some communities, the neighborhoods that pop up with that community are many miles away and sometimes in different counties.
The Chicago area may be somewhat unique. For example Chicago has about 70+ Zip codes. Plus every suburb, down to under 12,000 has a zip code and some 40,000+ villages have 3 maybe 4 or 5 zip codes depending if any developments in that village have the significance to have a multi-family zip code of their own(Post-Office distributes).
The Chicago area encompasses 9 counties and over 7 million people, more than some states. However, our MLS covers every inch of it which includes 3 states. In order to survive, an agent must serve multiple zip-codes. My primary zip code is 60108 which has homes in the premium price range, but people arrive and don't move unless they die.
An agent may choose to serve a development (in Chicago this may be a single high rise building where they live which has 900 individual properties.
New York may be similar, but my point is that currently cities and neighboroods in the Chicago Metro area need some Twinking.
If I can be of assistance, give me a call. Its only 1,000 points (LOL.).
New Orleans, LA is currently in Jefferson Parish, it should be in Orleans Parish
The only city in Orleans Parish is New Orleans, all others should be communities
Algiers Point, Algiers, LA should be Algiers Point, New Orleans, LA
Bob, I talked to your about the discrepencies in The Woodlands quite some time ago but you told me to wait until the new localism came out so I guess it is time now. The Woodlands is currently building in Harris County up until now they have only been in Montgomery County. I have written post about the new village in Harris County but I had to put the post in Montgomery County which didn't feel right as the village IS IN HARRIS COUNTY. Spring is also located in both Harris and Montgomery Counties and that is done correct but now The Woodlands needs to follow suit. Thanks for correcting this. Any questions give me a call.
Hawaii, Maui county, there are 2 versions of Makena (neighborhood) for input to Localism.
It's really a subset of Kihei, along with Wailea, not really a subset of Wailea. Can they be combined?
thanks
hey - the graphic is back? is that a FF glitch?
These cities are currently in Delaware County and they should be in Franklin county: Columbus, Westerville.
This city is currently in Franklin County and it should be in Delaware county: Galena
These communities should be removed from Delaware County and placed into Franklin County: Clintonville, Northland, Downtown, Forest Park East, New Albany, Gables, Chaseland Manor, Old Beechwold
These communities don't belong in Delaware County (don't know where they go - delete??): Carnegie Cove, Marburn, Madison Mills, Kendale, Granford, Indian Hollow, Village at Stone Cliff, Village @ Courtright Sq, Williams Creek, Greand Oaks.
This community is really a city and belongs in Licking County, not in Delaware County: Granville
This community is in Franklin County and should be in Delaware County: Tartan Fields
Richard Glesser is not in Ann Arbor, but in Gaylord Michigan. Five hours away.
Tina Howell is in Celina, TX not Ann Arbor.
Bob, I have written about Ypsilanti, and Bridgewater Township but nothing shows up when I go to those communities. Should I delete the posts and repost or do what?
Florida, Pinellas county
there is no such thing as Saint Petersburg beach, only St. Pete beach and that is already in

Wake County North Carolina the following are not cities
North Hills (community in Raleigh)
Cameron Village (ditto)
Duraleigh (this is a road?)
NC State University
thanks!
New Jersey Mercer County - Upper Free Township does NOT belong there
it should be New Jersey Monmouth County and its Upper Freehold Township
thanks........
West Virginia - Berkeley County
Cherry Run and Jones Springs are not cities
Hi Bob,
Oh My, Houston and The Woodlands needs this big time. I'll try to get a list of needed changes together...
Thanks.
Here is an issue that I posted to Rich on his post...going Loco...
The cities posted here that are supposedly in Coral Springs is in need of attention.
I tried to highlight, however it didn't come over from word...the comment's are there though.
I still am concerned that once an agent purchases a community or city...no one else will ever have the chance to occupy that area. Here in Fort Lauderdale, there are many AR agents...I wish this was monthly so we could all...share the Love...
See my concerns...I don't know who is in charge of this, so I'm showing this to you as well.
Thanks for all the work...you'll get this working fine...change is always a nusense in the beginning...
Just running through these quickly...there are many error's here. I only highlighted the ones that I knew were blatantly not in Coral Springs, however with a little coaxing, I could get back to you on the rest...most of the unhighlighted ones are either in Coral Springs or Margate (another city).
Scott Daniels area is Cooper City.
OK, I highlighted them in red in my word, however the red didn't come over, however, see the comments.
This has huge discrepancies.
Here are more...these are in Fort Lauderdale.
Karen: Not sure where exactly you're looking. Here are the neighborhoods/communities directly fron the Ft. Lauderdale page:

BOB,
Just so you are clear on this...the first list is what was compiled for CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA.
The SECOND post is what is listed per Rich for FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA.
These are two separate lists.
Land Rush. on the schedule 8/6th. Raleigh..still not sure about the cost/benefit analysis..

Ok Bob, here is a start. The Woodlands in Montgomery County is a Master Planned Community. So, The Woodlands is considered 'the city' on Localism with 'Communities' which are the villages when in all actuality 'the villages' are smaller cities so to speak. There are actually about 20-30 communities within each Commuity that we are seeing on Localism that are not visible...hope that makes sense. Hard to explain. Here's a screenshot with a couple of notes.
Then, when you go to Spring (another City which is in two Counties) it shows the Communities for both Counties...kinda trying to figure that out. (totally different building codes, homeowner's and car insurance rates, school districts, etc.) There are still communities missing if you add both together but only found one that needed to be deleted becuase it's spelled wrong and on there twice. 'glennlock farms' (the one with the K is spelled wrong.)
Still need to look at Houston, that will take forever but it will be the same issues there. Communities that are more like small cities with smaller communities inside that are not on there...So, what that means is that people will in all actuality be sponsoring several communities with one swipe.
Here is a start on Houston. One question that may come up in other areas as well is, should condos be considered communities? I think it's fair enough seeing as they have their own hoa's and stuff. If not, there are tons on this list...
In regards to what Marchel is saying about The Woodlands and Spring being in 2 counties....you will end up having 2 sponsors if you do it that way. One in each county...??? That's kinda wierd.
The village of Creekside Park is in Harris County...that should be the only community there for The Woodlands. And on top of that, if you put The Woodlands in both counties and it shows up twice, the population is under 40,000 which would give someone the right to sponsor it out right in one of the counties? Am I way off base and confused? Could be that I need sleep. :)
How will people searching know which is in what County if it says both? Personally, I saw Spring being in both Counties and think it is rather misleading... I mean, if you want to get technical like that then Houston needs to be in 7-8 different Counties because the Houston Metro area is huge, IMO. That could be a nightmare. Sugarland overlaps counties, neighborhoods overlap cities, that will end up being insanely confusing.
I guess we have a little difference of opinion here. I don't see why it is confusing have a town in two counties when it is in two counties. I just doesn't seem right to me to write a post for localism about The Village of Creekside and then put it in Montgomery County when it is in Harris County.
I'm not saying that Creekside should not be in Harris County. I'm looking at the whole picture, City wide. Carlton Woods is also in Harris county, but it is only in Montgomery County on Localism. Also, Harpers Landing and College Park..I don't recall seeing them on Localism. (now that I think about it)
This would be a nightmare throughout the City. Katy being in 2 counties, Imperial Oaks on the North side of town is in both Spring and Conroe, Sugarland is in 2 Counties (which would be even more confusing because just being on the other side of the county line could cost a homeowner $3000 in wind coverage insurance a year), Houston covers 7-8 counties.....
How specific can they be without making the water muddy? That's all I'm saying. What I mentioned above is just a few of the issues that I see with it.
It's not worth arguing about, whatever.
OK, here are a couple of Missouri issues I've found:
Miller, MO does not show up at all in search. It belongs in Lawrence County.
If you search for Jasper County, you get nothing. If you just put in Jasper, you get a nice list of all the Jasper Counties in the US.
Mount will not bring up Mount Vernon, MO although a short list of other "Mount" towns comes up. A very short list, I'm guessing it can't possibly be all the Mount something towns in the US. If you add the " V", suddenly, there it is. Mt, on the other hand, brings up no cities at all, except ones in Montana (MT).
In general, the search seems to be looking for "letters included" rather than what's actually being spelled. Mount v brings up Mountain View and Black Mountain Vistas, plus the state of Vermont. This is weird and would be offputting for a consumer, I'd think.
Umm, can't you just buy a new list rather than investing person hours in hunt and peck town fixing? Just asking...at least you could get all the towns on an accurate list, then go from there. Then freeze the town data and let people just add neighborhoods.
Here are free files from our friends at the census bureau (and yes I now they're 8 years old now, just trying to help). http://www.census.gov/geo/www/gazetteer/places2k.html. I think these even have the counties attached to the towns.
Glad it's you and not me trying to do this. Hang in there!
Sorry, just getting my first cup of coffee today, I was referring to Pearland above, not Surgarland..However, the issues lies there also.
I will agree with you all!
Sorry I don't have time for example, have to run.
Robert
gee I just wanted our state prison system removed, see how easy I am to please Bob, would take what 5 minutes? btw, still there.
For Huntsville, Alabama in Madison County it shows:
Owens Cross Roads, Owens X Rds and Owens X Road...it should just be Owens Cross Roads.
Redstone Arsenal is not a city....It is the arsenal, place of employment.
Alabama A&M is a college.
Hope that helps!
The pictures do not have captions under them in Florence County, SC. And for Lake City which is in Florence County, SC it does not have an upload button for pictures.
The city of Gig Harbor is listed under Kitsap County and Pierce County - should be listed only under Pierce. I imagine once the city is re-moved the neighborhoods will move too.
When I search for Toronto (Ontario, Canada), I get a couple of choices.
There is only one Toronto in Ontario, and it should appear as (starting from the Province):
Ontario
York County
Toronto
There is a choice that reads Toronto, Toronto, Ontario (does this make you find the person faster?)... This is misleading and not fair to the rest of us who work in Toronto, but don't show up under that choice.
That 'choice' should be removed, so that we are all listed properly, under the same City, County, and Province.
As far as I can tell, most of the communities surrounding Toronto are accurate.
Thanks, :)
Medford Lakes, NJ - shows a neighborhood of "Birchwood Lakes" (there are NONE other than Medford Lakes itself, and Birchwood is in Medford Township which already has an entry)
There are mutliple categories for McClellanville and Awendaw, which are both their own cities in SC.
Mcclellanville, Charleston, SC , Awendaw, Charleston, SC, and Awendaw, Mount Pleasant, SC
should all be removed leaving just Awendaw, SC and McClellanville, SC Thanks for cleaning up localism :-)
Bob,
As I wrote to you before, I made this post: Enough of these unrealistic blog posts... , a member's only post and it is still there under me on Localism. Please remove it!
Also, the actual point's that I have on two other posts have not updated from two day's ago.
Barack vs John...based on their Astrological charts...who do you choose?
and
Obama and "the tour".
are the two I am referring to. The titles are the same on AR and Localism.
Also, it is taking at least an hour, not 30 minutes as you guy's are telling us for things to post to Localism through AR.
I posted a listing tonight. Will see if it show's up over there. Posted at 10:22 pm...1:22 am...STILL, not there. nite.
Also, My broker bought another company, so I am now with EXIT Team Realty. I changed this on my profile on AR and it didn't go over to localism...
This is where: Karen Monsour , BA, BS, CNMT, BCLS, Licensed Realtor®,
Exit Realty Properties it need's to say EXIT Team Realty as I changed in my AR profile.
Thanks.
Bob - You have Durham as a Municpality with the following as cities
Here is the official breakdown of Durham which is actually a REGIONAL Municipality
Durham( map )
York Region will have similiar issues
The Regional Municipality of York
York ( map )
In Ontario our city/regional/municipal/etc etc is a very mixed bag for a complete and accurate listing visit the Ontario Municipal Home Pages - This is likely the most complete list of the Ontario Municipal structure anywhere on the Internet. In addition to links and maps this site provides information or access to information on; electoral districts, community profiles, the changing shape of Ontario and much more.
Hope This Helps
In Connecticut:
There are 169 towns in Connecticut.
Gales Ferry is listed as a separate town. It is not. It is part of Ledyard, CT. I wouldn't want to have to pay for both. The total popularion of Ledyard which includes Gales Ferry is only 15000.
Indiana, LaGrange County
Note: Our whole county has less than 40,000 people.
If you only want cities in this category, the cities would only include: LaGrange, Howe, Shipshewana, Topeka, and Wolcottville.
If you want to include the unincorporated small towns, which would probably be better described as communities, then you would include: Brighton, Emma, Honeyville, Mongo, Ontario, Stroh, and South Milford
Listed as cities but are actually townships, lakes, subdivisions, and landmarks: hopefully some will develop as neighborhoods eventually.
Lakeside, Lake View, Pretty Lake, Royer Lake, Shady Nook, Timberhurst, Wildwood Landing, Witmer Manor, Woodland Park, Adams Lake, Fish Lake, Brushy Prairie, Lima, Mount Pisgah.
Thank you for all of your hard work, and valuing the input of your members!
In Colorado, Douglas County - Highlands is listed as a city. The city there is actually Highlands Ranch (which is also there and fine). Highlands alone is a neighborhood in Denver (which it is there already as well & fine). I think there may be others but I thought some had been fixed over time - but I will take a look.
OK - Here is another, if you go straight to Lone Tree, CO - the county comes up with 2 on the top - Douglas & Dolores. Douglas is correct. Dolores is far away.
Here is an interesting one - in Castle Rock, CO - there is a neighborhood Castle Pines North (not to be confused with Castle Pines Village - a different neighborhood.) When you started this way back when - Castle Pines North was a neighborhood - but now it & all its related posts & photos should be moved to the city level. It changed last year, in November I believe.
Payson, AZ has a "community" of Payson under it. If you click this it reads "Payson's Payson". This needs to be just removed. There are also a couple of pictures of the Grand Canyon, which I had posted under the right county (can't remember now which one the canyon is in) which got put in for Payson, as if the GC is there. These need to be put in the right place.
Ok, more to mention that I originally realized - I know you wanted to just look at cities but take a beak at neighborhoods under Denver - there are quite a few duplicates. I am thinking it would be nice to at least get the dupes out. For example there are several that name the same areas around the University of Denver - you have DU, DU/Univ of Denver, Univ Park, etc (University Hills is its own entity however). I also see a few dupes for Bonnie Brae, Highlands, Washington Park, Cherry Creek, City Park West, LoDo, etc. The list is so long, especially with the dupes that I think it could cause you to get even more dupes - people will scan down , not see what they want since the order is not alpha and create another. So purging to start clean may help that a little maybe (?)
Also, Cherry HIlls Village is listed there (in Denver) as a neighborhood. Its actually at the city level (which it is also on Localism already).
Ok this is helpful. there are "neighborhoods" in the list for South Lake Tahoe that actually aren't... am will as you say wait to comment on that after it suppsedly shakes out.
am following the list of links Rich just put out about new localism from top to bottom. Yes, actually reading each one. Think all before this one were with Jonathan.
Still do not know where and how to sponsor a community. Have only the state of Washington to choose from in the pull down menu, and don;t know where to go yet to put credit card on file.
am continuing on the next link...
a grand exercise, this one, Yea!
(still wearing that great lid?)
Palmer Lake is listed as El Paso County and Douglas County. Now, I don't really work down that far so I don't know for sure - but I think its just El Paso County (but right on the border) - however there are plenty of other towns in the area that are cross county. Maybe confirm with someone else that covers down south there - Mariana Wagner would know for sure I would think.
One more & I am done - again know you don't want communities, but hopeful you will consider - CO - Douglas County - Highlands Ranch lists 2 errors - Wildcat Ridge & Province Center. These are both in Littleton, not Highlands Ranch - (even though they appear to be on a map) and do reside in their proper place on Localism as well. They should be removed from Highlands Ranch as they have been the source for often confusion with home buyers as some have thought they are actually moving into Highlands Ranch, which has different facilities. Long story short, they should only be in Littleton.
Bob,
Here's some errors in Northern Virginia and D.C.:
City data:
ALEXANDRIA
Cameron Station, VA -- not a city, this is a community within Alexandria, VA
George Mason, VA -- not a city
Trade Center, VA -- not a city, more of a census area (in Alexandria)
George Washington, VA -- not a city
Potomac, VA -- not a city
New Alexandria, PA & Alexandria, PA should not appear on Alexandria, VA search.
Alexandria, VA -- this is a city -- it is an independent city, not part of any county (Virginia has independent cities) -- so there is no "Alexandria City County"
ARLINGTON
South, VA -- not a city
Fort Myer, VA -- not a city, it's an Army base
Crystal City, VA -- not a city, this is a community within Arlington
Rosslyn, VA -- ditto, community in Arlington
Darlington, PA, Darlington Heights, VA, and Earlington, PA should not appear in Arlington, VA search.
FAIRFAX COUNTY
Mount Vernon -- not a city, this is a community within Fairfax County
WASHINGTON D.C.:
The following are not cities or communities and do not belong:
The White House, DC
US Marines Corps Barracks, DC
Dulles International Airport, DC
Naval Anacost Annex, DC
Fort McNair, DC
Bolling AFB, DC
Pentagon, DC
Friendship Heights and Chevy Chase are neighborhoods within D.C., not cities themselves.
Bob~ NJ errors:
1) NJ Mercer County Princeton, remove Montgomery Walk, this is a community in Somerset County, Montgomery Township
2) NJ Mercer County Princeton, remove Hopewell Hunt, this is a community in Mercer County, Hopewell Township
Good to know. I just hope all these changes to Localism don't come back to do more harm than good to the agents that have done the work to make it what it is!
Under Mililani there is Waipio Gentry....that's not right.
Waipio Gentry is it's own city but under a Waipahu Zip Code. Same with Waikele. It has a Waipahu Zip code.
Mililani used to be a Wahiawa zip code but we got our own PO go figure,.
Funny, but maybe I did that because one of my posts are in there. oops.
Hi, as you said Bob, here it is: I'm not sure if you can help, but I noticed on Localism that Toluca Lake, CA is listed as a city. It is really not a city but a "village" that is partially in the City of Los Angeles, CA and partially in the City of Burbank, CA. It does not have its own zip code and residents technically live in either L.A. or Burbank. I also noticed that someone has added Sherman Oaks under the Toluca Lake city section which is completely wrong as that section of the City of L.A. is about 8 miles away! Also, Encino, which is about 12 miles away has also been added in some fashion. This needs to be cleaned up before August 4th. **Toluca Lake is a community which should be listed UNDER BOTH the City of L.A. and the City of Burbank as a neighborhood/community.** It should not show up as a city in itself, should not be broken into additional neighborhoods nor should anything else associated with it. Fyi, West Toluca Lake is a neighborhood/community to the west of us in the City of L.A. - it is also not a city itself. Can you help me with this? Thank you.
Michigan - Macomb County - Chesterfield Township - Lake Anna and Ridley Township Pennsylvania are not communities within Chesterfield Township. (Heck, they're not even in the same state :-) Both should be deleted.
Thank you!
Corrections for Anne Arundel County, Maryland:
Community: Piney Orchard is NOT in Fort George G. Meade MD. It is located in Odenton (21113)
City: 1. There is ONE military installation: Fort George G. Meade. (Are military installations supposed to be listed as cities?)
It is listed as two cities: Fort George G. Meade AND Fort Meade. One of these should be eliminated, hopefully before both of them are sold in the land rush and you have to decide which AR member to alientate by deleting one of them
2. Naval Academy is NOT a city. There is a military installation called U.S. Naval Academy. IF military installations are supposed to be listed as cities, at least give it the correct name.
In Prince George's County, Maryland - same issue... Military Installations:
City: Andrews AFB and Andrews Air Force Base. It's not a city. But, if you're going to list military installations, you should probably eliminate one of these and list the installation only once.
THANK YOU!
Made a list already - but what about the ones in the DROP DOWN menu when you go to post - it's different than the ones in Localism... drop down also includes:
Crabtree Valley Mall
Duncan
5 points
Brentwood
Eagle Rock
Neuse
WestGate
Kennebec
Fuquay Varina is actually a town in Wake County, NC and should stay!
Thanks! -E.
Can you add the "Galt Ocean mile" as an area for me. That is where I work most of the time and I don't see it on the list.
It's located between Oakland Park Blvd. and Commercial Blvd from the A1A to the Ocean.
Thanks,
For Hillsborough County Florida, the following are not cities;
MacDill AFB is an airforce base not a city
Ybor City was incorporated into Tampa and does not exist as a city anymore.
Tampa Palms is a subdivision
Town and Country is a subdivison
Westchase is a subdivision
Davis Island, Northdale and Palma Ceia are subdivisions
Twin Lake is a subdivision
Faulkenberg and Erlich are streets
University of South Florida and University of Tampa are universities
Thanks for the corrections!
Bob - Just sent an Errors in Localism email to your AR account
Jeff
I was looking at the City and Neigborhood breakdown for our area. The cities, communities, etc are not correct. Grossly incorrect in some instances. For example:
Avondale on Hayden is NOT in Coeur d'Alene, Id, It is in Hayden, ID. Coeur d' Alene and Hayden are Two completely different LARGE Cities. Even their Zip Codes are different.
Rocking R Ranch is NOT in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. It is in Hayden, Idaho. Coeur d'Alene and Hayden are Two completely different LARGE cities. Even the Zip Codes are different.
Applegate, Ashbrood, Antonelli, Coeur D'Alene Resort Golf Course (it's a GOLF COURSE...no one lives here), Coeur d'Alene Airport (it is an airport in HAYDEN, ID, NOT Coeur d'Alene and no one lives there) are NOT communities, Cities or anything close.
Coeur d'Alene, Coeur d'Alene..... that is just way to wrong in too many ways to even describe.... Coeur d'Alene is a city of over 40,000 people... How can it be both a Neighborhood and a City?
Hayden/Hayden Lake and Coeur d'Alene Idaho can not be combined in any way. They are both sizable cities with their own City Halls, Mayors, etc.... So to put a Hayden Lake or Hayden Community or Neighborhood in Coeur d'Alene is just WRONG.
Also, using the resoning that no one posts to the community.... is also wrong. I have made MANY posts to the Cities of Hayden and Hayden Lake but for some reason they go to the Kootenai County ID or Idaho Page and don't appear on the City page even though I make them City specific.
These are just a few of the discrepancies.....
The below list was copied directly from Localism..... I'm not making this up.
Communities:
Cities:
I'm too tired to go through the rest of them right now... But this is a good start.
Just want to be sure you guys understand about Toluca Lake, CA as I tried to post and was allowed to only choose Toluca Lake under the City of Los Angeles. BECAUSE THIS IS A UNIQUE SITUATION WHERE THE VILLAGE OF TOLUCA LAKE STRADDLE BOTH THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES AND BURBANK, we should be allowed to select where posts show up under the TWO cities or you could automatically ensure that whoever posts under L.A./Toluca Lake also gets posted under Burbank/Toluca Lake. Residents of the Burbank side of Toluca Lake should not be left out as their homes' values count on it. Fyi the entrance to the actual Toluca Lake Golf Club where the actual lake is is in BURBANK. Also, I am sure you're still working on the Localism page but I will remind you that Toluca Lake, CA is NOT a city and should show up as a community/neighborhood BOTH under the City of L.A. and the City of Burbank. It should look like this, below, and this only all other divisions or associations (like Encino, San Fernando or Sherman Oaks) are mistakes.
Communities:
Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, CA
Toluca Lake, Burbank, CA
Thanks again!
Crossville, Tennessee in Cumberland County is spelled several different ways. It should be Crossville only.
Chattanooga TN is a little confusing with some communities in cities and in communities. I am not sure how these towns/communities should be organized - but Chatta is not a name for anything.
Who decides whether to list a location as a city or as a community. We could go by incorporation, but some of the incorporated cities very much fall under the shadow of Chattanooga.
Richard
HELP! Huntsville Alabama is not readable? I thought it was a glitch just for the moment last night and just logged on to look again and it still is not readable. We won't be able to see the cities to purchase...HELP.
There is a community in localism as Gretna, New Orleans, LA
It should be Gretna, LA
OH MY Bob, I dont know how you're going to get through these in time. a couple of corrections for British Columbia, Fraser Valley is the equivalent of Your County & then Re: City of Langley - Both Agassiz and Hope are listed as communites in Langley however they are both Cities of their own and not a part of Langley.
For Chilliwack: there are several communities that aren't listed yet, but there are 2 listed as Vedder and Sardis.....Vedder is actually just road in Sardis......Sardis only is the community. Hope this helps.
British columbia - Greater Vancouver has cities listed in it that are not a part of the Greater Vancouver area but rather a part of what you would call the county of Fraser Valley: These included White rock, Surrey, south surrey , Langley. Thanks - Liz\
We are working on getting the CITY errors corrected for the states that will launch today. After that we will move on to the areas that launch tomorrow and so on........
One thing to consider:
MAKE SURE YOU BUY THE CORRECT AREA. If you believe it should be a city and not a community under a different city, then make sure you secure it at the CITY LEVEL and not at the community level.
If it is showing as a city and it is actually a community of another city, make sure you secure it at the community level under the correct city.
There were some cities that should be communities in the batch of states being released today. Since there was content in them and simply deleting them would leave that content 'floating' with no home and cause issues, we have made it so they can't be sponsored at a city level.
For instance, Gales Ferry (for you Linda) is not sponsorable at the city level. You can only sponsor it as a community of Ledyard should you choose to.
Sally,
The bases that were in there as cities have been made so that no one can sponsor them at the city level. If they are there in the community level, you can sponsor them at that level.
Maui county - Wailuku/Kahului - there is NO Waikiki here - will it wither on the vine?
Bob, It was pretty easy to claim the areas I was interested in. Now I need to market them. thanks. AJ
Albany, Oregon does not show up at the City Level, but when I do into the county it is there (without the posts I had done previously!)
These all show as Albany communities - there is no content in any of these areas and they are incorrect as follows
Thanks for your hard work straightening these out!
Hi Bob...this is a daunting task. Thanks for all the fixes.
Brunswick County, NC Cities:
Bob, I know you and your team are working hard to fix all the errors on Localism and it may take a while to do so - I just don't understand why some members would create a situation with false cities and incorrect communities that make your work harder. I guess they never thought that this "landrush" would ever happen and perhaps if they made one post long ago, they could hold on. In retrospect, maybe it would have been easier to fix all they errors first then do the landrush, but I suppose hindsight is 20/20. Good luck to you and thanks again!!
I'm not sure if someone has sent this one in to you or not...
Wisconsin, Milwaukee County,
Currently shown are Bay View and Bayview, the correct way to spell it is "Bay View"
City of Milwaukee also shows a few different ways to abbreviate Milwaukee
Thanks!
Hey Bob,
New Hampshire / Merrimack County/ Mount Sunapee---not a city
Thanks!
Dan
Hi Bob - you guys are doing a great job, and it must be very hectic this week. When you get a minute, please note that the map for my sponsored community is so far off it's really BAD - it's a map of another island altogether! Wailea Maui Hawaii ... The zip is 96753.
THANKS
Bob, thanks to you and your staff for all the hard work you have put into making Localism a reality for all of us. I appreciate your efforts and I look forward to posting more local blogs once everything is in better shape. Until then hang in there, you're doin' good.
Janie
Hi, Bob! Thanks for the opportunity to fix my community. Currently there's a community with two names: one is Scott AFB and Scott Air Force Base in IL. They are one and the same--I sponsored Scott AFB just because this is the acronym the military community is more familiar with.
Since I already sponsor Scott AFB, I'm requesting the other name be deleted...Scott Air Force Base. Unless you guys want to sell the same community twice. :))
Thanks again!
Hello again. Would you please change the spelling of O Fallon in IL to O'Fallon. There should be an apostrophe between the O and the F. I don't know why it doesn't have it right now. Thanks!
Bob;
Masons Island is a community located within Mystic, CT. Mystic, CT is a community located within the town of Stonington, Connecticut. Mystic is located within the Towns of Groton (west of the Mystic River) and Stonington (east of the Mystic River). Masons Island should be listed as a community within Stonington (as should Mystic). Masons Island should not be listed under Groton.
Where can we address other issues? Agents listed under SE CT that are not even located in CT.
TY,
Dave
Hi again Bob, sorry to bug you, but 2 things: First the first photo I uploaded to my Toluca Lake community page was for some reason displayed sideways and I cannot delete it. It loaded correctly the 2nd attempt. *Could someone please delete the sideways photo? Thank you.* Second, according to the Toluca Lake Chamber of Commerce, the original boundaries of the Village are the only ones they honor - so this "also being part of Burbank" is an ongoing debate. In order for consumers in the area to not look at us sideways, if, for now, Toluca Lake is only listed as follows in the Localism search results, that will be fair enough. If anything changes as I will be looking into this, I will let you know:
Communities:
Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, CA (this is correct, nothing else is)
Again, everything currently in the Localism search results save for the above is wrong (i.e. references to Encino, Sherman Oaks, San Fernando) and neither Toluca Lake nor West Toluca Lake are cities, just communities under the City of Los Angeles. Thank you for your help.
Bob,
Here's one for you.
Our town is in TWO counties. We are split between Tulsa County and Rogers County. Can this be addressed?
Owasso,OK
East Windsor NJ is located in Mercer County, a section of it has a PO Box of Cranbury, but it does NOT belong to Middlesex County.
Hi Bob,
As I mentioned before, there is a huge error in Toronto, at the City level, and I'm freaking out a little bit, because I have spent hours adding photos and information (to both the wrong and the right one, because I noticed photos and articles are appearing in both - but not always).
When you type in "Toronto, Ontario", the first community that shows up is:
Toronto, Toronto, Ontario - and this is WRONG. There is no community called Toronto.
Toronto is the City.
Toronto, Ontario should stay. The one above should be removed.
HOWEVER, what happens to all the information that's been added under that community?
What happens to all the photos I've added and all the information that's there now?
I think someone added that community originally, because Toronto used to be called "YORK" a long time ago, which is different from York Region (which is also there) ... so I think someone was avoiding placing Toronto under 'York', and somehow you ended up with two Toronto's. As far as I can tell, this is the biggest problem I can see so far - and it would be great if it POSSIBLY could get fixed before the month runs out, so I don't get charged twice for the same thing. :)
I sent you a message about this, and you said it was going to get fixed yesterday, but it didn't ... so I'm sorry if I seem to be harrassing you ... or duplicating requests. I just want to bring to your attention that the problem still exists.
If anyone else has mentioned this here already, I apologize. I have NOT read all the comments.
Keep up the good work and let me know how I can help.
Winston Salem and Winston-Salem NC, you have both listed. The proper one and the only one should be Winston-Salem. I have both as communities so it shouldn't make anyone mad.
Active Rain, you have done such a great job in getting all of these errors corrected in such a short amount of time. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Bob (AR Team), thank you for fixing the Toronto, Toronto, Ontario mistake.
It's so much better now. :)
Thank you again.
I'll buy you a drink when Liz and I visit (and we will). :)
About London's london,ky
is at the top the page on London, Ky. It say just About London, Ky I don't know how to change it. If you can let me know If I can change it or if you have to change it from there . Thank you so much
IL, Dupage County, Medinah IL - town is now missing. I had a couple of posts for that town, now it's missing.
Thanks :-)
Hawaii - Maui county - there is a town of Puunene and that's GOOD - there is not a neighborhood of Puunene in Makawao, that's WAY BAD.
Thanks Bob! Hope you're getting excited about your upcoming trip to the Big Island - it's a beautiful place.
I reported this earlier and it was fixed but has reverted back in the last week or so.
The city of Gig Harbor is listed under Kitsap County and Pierce County - should be listed only under Pierce. I imagine once the city is re-moved the neighborhoods will move too.
Popular communities
above is Popular communities in Delaware County Ohio but Clintonville, Northland, Forest Park East are in Franklin County. They are in the City of Columbus.
Downtown Columbus is definitely in Franklin County.
Polaris is, I believe the only City of Columubs neighborhood that is in Delaware County. A couple of other neighborhoods in the list are in Delaware County too... and who knows what some of the others are..
I believe content posted to Westerville would do the same thing, the city of Westerville straddles the county line but the majority of the city is in Franklin County, Westervilles Uptown (Westerville has an Uptown NOT a downtown.)
Dublin? Straddles the county line. Downtown is in Franklin County.
I understand this is in the comments above. I guess it is but it says Columbus is in Franklin County. NOT All of Columbus is in Franklin County. The city annexed the Polaris area years ago.
I don't think I knew of this post.
Is this where we post to have errors fixed still? We are trying to clean up our area of localism and we have some (ok many) errors..... We are in WA state and have some errors within the Mason County Localism.... Currently when going to Mason County -Belfair and it is showing the communities- LAKELAND VILLAGE somehow got put into Belfair as well as Allyn - Lakeland Village is not in Belfair. How do we get in removed and the title of Belfair's LakeLand Village as well?
"About Belfair's Lakeland Village" This is the title showing in Belfair -
If you can tell me if this is where we get the errors fixed we will send the others as well here shortly......
I posted errors to this site several months ago about the Salem/Albany Oregon areas, and they still haven't been corrected.
In Deschutes County, Oregon: Tollgate is listed as a city. It is a subdivision in Sisters.
In Pima County, Arizona
City: Tucson
Please consolidate the two communities, Tucson Est 2 and Tucson Estates Ii, as a single community. The correct name is Tucson Estates II.
Thanks,
Mike in Tucson
Hi again. Sorry I was away but I was overloaded with school ANYWAY you actually fixed my area a while back in which I pay to be Top Neighbor: Toluca Lake, Los Angeles, CA. It is not a city and this is correct. I just looked on Localism and saw that some REO person added "Toluca Lake, North Hollywood, CA - THAT IS THE SAME THING. North Hollywood is a section of L.A. as is Toluca Lake (and not cities) and this person also knows that Toluca Lake is technically within the "boundaries" of North Hollywood but so are numerous communities. They understand that only 1 person can be top neighbor in Toluca Lake so they've attempted to pull a fast one. Having multiple Toluca Lakes ruins the consumer experience and undermines confidence regarding accuracy and knowledge. This is getting tiring. Also, so sorry, but only one of my blog posts is showing in Localism, I thought that was fixed too. How can we fix this once and for all?
Thanks again - it really is appreciated!
-Risa
The community I just sponsored was in Maryland, Anne Arundel County, Sherwood Forest
The map is wrong, and the zip code to pull listings is wrong.
The zip is 21405.
Also, I am unable to upload photos, it has the link, but the link doesn't work.
And it doesn't have any other opportunity to add content under communites, but I don't know if this is always the case.
Thanks so much!
