ActiveBob.....It's always Raining!

head_left_image

Seth Thinks Firefox is a gateway drug.......

I couldn't agree more. In fact, if you aren't using Firefox as your browser, do yourself a favor and stop reading right this minute and go download it..............I'm serious, stop reading. (Hey, what are you doing? You don't know what's good for you do you? You are the one who would crawl over to the fireplace and try to touch the glass after mom and dad had repeatedly told you not to.)

If for no other reason, I guarantee that your experience on ActiveRain will be better if you go download Firefox. Things around here just look better.

Seth reasons......

".. everywhere you look, if someone is using Firefox, they're way more likely to be using other power tools online. The reasoning: In order to use Firefox, you need to be confident enough to download and use a browser that wasn't the default when you first turned on your computer.

That's an empowering thing to do. It isolates you as a different kind of web user."

Get out from underneath the thumb of our Redmond neighbors. Become empowered. You will thank me later.........

(the day is approaching that I will start every 'can you show me how to do xxxx' conversation with "Do you use Firefox?")

Bob - Brad got me brainwashed about FireFox a few months ago.   Today while I was trying to load my new improved "blacklisted" header....I realized....I was doing it in IE......DUH....   When I did the work with Firefox...guess what..... It worked!

Bob... Brad got me turned onto FireFox also!  All his damn widgets overloaded Internet Explorer.  Still need IE for the MLS system but FireFox is my default browser...

Hi Bob,
I'm a big fan of Firefox, been using it for a long time.  Love it!

Bob:  I agree... Firefox is best when working with AR and many other sites.  I still need IE for realtor.com and the MLS so I have both.

I love Firefox. Can't believe I used internet Explorer for such a long time.

I've been using FF for a couple of years.  I opened a door to other open source programs to me.  It is a marvelous tool.  I won't go back to IE (except for the sites that require me to use it... cough MLS cough).

I have a Firefox tattoo!

It's on a personal part so I can't show it to you.

My favorite trick - goes back to the old mozilla days,

Type in the address bar "about:mozilla" (with no quotes).

It's an Egg that's been there since the first incarnation all the way to today.

Spooooooky

Have I been banned yet?

I use Firefox for everything that I can. Smart sites, like our property appraiser's site, require Firefox. Antiquated systems, like our MLS, won't run on Firefox and that's the only time I use IE.

Bob I have been using Firefox for over two years now, and I would not go back to Internet Explore ever again.

OK, not that BOB needs any backing from anyone on here, but I totally agree. A few months back I was having problems with IE and activerain. I was talking to the Bobster and he told me to check out Firefox. I did and I have never looked back. Do yourself a flavor and go download it now.

I haven't experienced any big problems here on AR using Explorer, but I use both FF and IE.  I may need to use it more often based on your recommendation!

"I still need IE for realtor.com and the MLS..."

How can someone in the Seattle Area not support Microsoft?  We owe them a great deal in many ways.

Posted by ARDELL DellaLoggia (Sound Realty) about 4 years ago
Bob, some of us are using work computers.  We can only download Firefox on our personal computers. For me, I spend 90% on my work computer and thus do most of my AR contact there.  Then,  there is the fight at home who is going to use our personal computer. aj
Posted by Alan 'AJ' Nisen California Contra Costa Mortgage Officer (A Large Bank in America) about 4 years ago

Ardell,

"We".....who are we? You and I? The people of Seattle?

I owe Microsoft nothing..........wait, I take that back......they made Paul Allen rich and he bought the Seahawks so Ken Behring wouldn't move them to L.A. and now I still have a football team to go watch and buy $9 beers. On gameday, I am never happier to pay $9 for a beer :-)

If I lived in Everett or Tacoma would that make it different?

AJ,

The person running your system at work won't let you download firefox? What is their reasoning?

Posted by Bob Stewart - Community Evangelist - ActiveRain (ActiveRain) about 4 years ago

Why do you have to use IE for realtor.com?  I using Firefox for realtor.com and haven't had any problems yet.  I have a new mac and won't/don't have IE on my computer so it is frustrating when the sites won't work well or at all with Firefox, but what choice do I have.  Luckily Firefox seems to work fine with our MLS system.

I've been using it for 2 years now.  I can't tell you how refreshing it was the first month or so to not experience IE "crashes" and those oh so lovely error messages.

I admit, I've stuck with IE after trying Opera and a few others, Firefox included--thanks for spurring me on to redownload Firefox.  IE will be my "dinosaur" pathway.  The Fox rules!

The clunker that pretends to be an mls in Atlanta, Georgia just won't run on Firefox, I feel like I spend half the day switching browsers and I'm running a dual monitor system to try to decrease the frustration.  Most days I have my laptop next to me also - 3 monitors, just to be able to work!

Bob, I already start every conversation with "Do you use FireFox?" There are so many errors that we (ActiveRain) get every day and they can easily be attubuted to IE. USE FIREFOX PEOPLE!!!!

Boob.... I mean, Bob... I use Firefox, thanks to Mary McKnight... back in December of '06.... I like the fact that it saves what you are working on, in regards to blogs, if your system shuts down... or if AR isn't working at the time when you submit your blog.... and so much more...

I would agree that Firefox is better...however, the whole world does not use Firefox. Some of the changes lately have made pages take very long to load. We should be geared towards the consumer...towards the general public first and foremost...and they may or may not be using Firefox. If the consumer gets tired of waiting for a page to load...especially all the "new" fancy backgrounds & stuff, they may simply log off and go somewhere else. Just a thought.

Bob- I wrote a long post with all the screen shots and reasons to use Firefox. I think I got quite a few people to switch. But us agents have to toggle back and forth with IE for our MLS. Now, MIXPO does not work with Firefox in part of their program. I have been using Firefox for a long time and just love it.

Bob,

If Microsoft ever leaves the area in our lifetime, give me a call.  It would be like Armageddon around here.  Support your local companies, as the lives of our neighbors are in their hands.  Hmmm...is this really the last post you've written?  I have to re-check that.

Get on the stick, Bob!

Bob Firefox is great especially if you are interested in SEO. I have the plugin for displaying a sites page rank as well as whether or not a link is "no follow" or not. Works great when you are trying to decide if joining a site could be worth while or not for SEO purposes.
