ActiveBob.....It's always Raining!

Lights.....Camera........Action!!

Lights camera actionIf you haven't seen the home page yet, we added a little video frame on there. We can show different stuff to someone if you are logged in versus if you aren't. It was really non-productive, all I did all day long was surf the internet for video................I'm not complaining.......remember, I love my job!

Do you want to make the home page of AR on a consistent basis? Come up with a cool, innovative, funny, engaging video series about real estate in weekly installments........you're sure to get some air time. While you try to figure out the next great real estate series (or is that the first great real estate series?) I'll be busy figuring out what to play on the front page of AR until you come up with something good for me! Maybe you have something you think is worth getting some exposure for that you didn't create? I'd love to hear about it or have you provide a link to it.

(please note, this is not an invitation to drop random crap links in my post :-) )

I know that between the 70,000 people out there we have to have a couple of people here that are creative enough to produce some great stuff. Fill my programming time for me.......PLEASE!! (otherwise, I'm going to be spending more unproductive time combing the net looking for video)

Go get a $149.00 flip camera over at Amazon (Jon and I each just got one) and get busy making some great videos!!! who knows, maybe we'll have a really cool video editing software available in the near future...............

I've been reading much this week about the new flip cameras and I have to say, it's at the top of my "get to it!" list.  I'm looking forward to watching the videos that our members upload.  Thanks Bob.

I did get the flipvideo when Linda Davis recommended it. Taking it to Keller Williams conference so we'll see how I do, it may be too bad to send it, but Dustin Luther is speaking today and Seth Godin tomorrow. Off to see the home page.

There were some caching issues earlier today.......so she would have had to been logged in at one point, then it may have showed to her when she wasn't. But had she not been logged in at one point, she wouldn't have seen it. :-)

Blogging Bertha did debut our video for us......haha

Kris,

Coupled with some cool video software and an easy way to post to your blog and the flip camera would be a real winner!! You worry about the flip camera, maybe we can figure out the rest.

Posted by Bob Stewart - Community Evangelist - ActiveRain (ActiveRain) almost 4 years ago

Missy,

Have fun!!! Tell Dustin I say hi. He's a boat load of knowledge! I'm a big Seth Godin fan, I'm disappointed I'll be missing that.......

Remember, the more you drink, the less the camera shakes......errr.....wait.......is it the other way around? The less you drink the more it shakes? OK, now I'm confused..........

Gee Bob..That really sounded like an invitation to most of us to post AR Funniest Home Videos here...If the category ever opens up..my wife has a whole series going back for years of cats dragging their butts on the carpet and sleeping in sinks...but mainly funny cats

Mr Stewart...

Did someone say "Video" ?? :)

It's a great idea and a wonderful way to get the creative juices flowing from all these marketing gurus :)

Tell me that we will have occasional FUN with this :)

P.S. Blogging Bertha just got wind of it. She is pounding at her closet door. If I don't let her out soon she's gonna head butt the door. Hey, Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll knock herself out :)

Hi Bob - I caught a glimpse of Blogging Bertha up there yesterday, and I had to do a double take, and then a triple take.  I thought that was an 'interesting' video to have up there.

I think having videos up there is a great idea!

Great idea to add videos to the homepage. Can you send out some instructions about how to link the videos to our blogs so we can post to localism?

Bob, I was just commenting back and forth and here is an Active Rainer who does produce his own local videos in Maine.  This whole topic just came up this morning.

So the question is do you just want videos of us discussing "real estate" or also a localism slant to this video?

We will produce what you want..."build it and they will come."

Bob, I am unfortunately a bit technologically challenged, as you know :.) so I will just see what others have to offer and then see if someone will point me in the learning direction~

Bob, Great post, but if you have any difficulty finding real estate videos on the web, please feel free to go to www.ZIPVO.com  We presently have real estate agents from Alaska to Maine to Texas and as far as Puerto Rico uploading videos!

Agents can upload video blogs, send video emails, video testamonials, video interviews and video walk-throughs of listings and embed their videos anywhere they want .. we are a site dedicated just for real estate videos only ... please take a look.

Bob - You certainly got my attention -

I saw blogging bertha and wondered what the heck was going on. Just the sight of her was enough to make me run away from the home page. ;-))

While the idea sounds appealing I just know future content will be more in line with what you have today and will have a broader appeal. Just one more credit in the line of credits to this wonderful community and its creators.

And by the way I usually log on at about 5:00am and that is just way to early to see blogging Bertha..perhaps you could suggest to Broker Bryant another stay in the closet?

Liked the blogging Bertha.  Overall, I like that you are adding video to your website.  I'll have to think on that.  There are so many things going on in real estate, you could have some spectacular video on the home page.  I would be curious to see some footage in New Orleans and selling real estate there these days.

I want to break my business in to video, but all of the property videos I see are... weak.  But, I won't be interviewing many industry insiders... maybe I'll do a series of real estate discussions in a Jeep... that rolls.

Bob!

This is a great post - along with the humor, the video had some great ideas in it.

Especially when the guy holding the microphone said "...the consumer will decide..."

It's pretty obvious consumers are the highest life form on the (economic) planet.

People should check out Jeff Turner's panel at Real Estate Connect beofre they dive into video - the people that are doing it say they have quite a bit of help.

Hi Bob, I noticed the video late last night, your post this morning confirms what I was hoping for... video to be a new regular Rain feature.

Like most other new features I know there will probably be a bit of a learning curve but this is awesome, what an opportunity for anyone with a little time, effort and a half decent idea to stand out from the crowd.

I'm not sure if the world is ready for the "marti in the morning in my pj's with my coffee marketing show" but... who knows. Have a great weekend, gotta go think about this!

I'm a little torn between 'video for the sake of video' and 'video done well.' Others I follow have commented that it takes about an hour of production time to get one good minute of video. Not sure how accurate that measure is, but for right now I'm taking a wait and see approach.

Bob,

I started using a Professional Videographer for 2 of my Listings and have great reviews from them and even better, it really gets a Listing potentials attention!!!

I use Welcome Mat (.com) to store it (80-90MB) and also put them on Realtor.com

If you go to a ListingDomains.com address site of mine, you'll see one of them. It is:

          http://www.363richwood.com

It is also on my website: http://www.SNJRealEstate.com under the 363 Richwood Rd Listing

It cost some $$$ to have done for me, but ohhhhh so worth it!!!!!

Thanks, Bernie

That's not Tina directly above, but it's still one tough act to follow. Just look at her. This is serious.

Bob- This is on my list to learn to do this year, just  a bit intimidating. I did my first video testimonial of a happy buyer and then I blew it by finalizing the dvd in my camcorder instead of editing it first on my computer. Well, I learned a big lesson that day. One about short sales would be great. I have a sony camcorder but is is dvd  and I want to get one that is run by a hard drive. Katerina

Bob - Hey, I bought six of those flip cameras as Costco last year. It was the best investment ever! Costco had the 30 minute version and it was an awesome deal. I bought them for $80 and got a $20 rebate. Bought them for two sisters that had little ones that I thought would be perfect for capturing quick moments while out and about and handy for their bags. Bought one for my daughter who is attending High School and bought two for other Realtors and one for me!  I love mine! Try using it while driving down the street on your dash board, it's kinda cool to view when you plug it in to your pc.  Have fun.
