Let me try to clarify a little bit of how the bidding process works and how you are charged for your impressions. First of all, when you bid, you are bidding for 1000 impressions. If you bid $3, that bid is saying that you are willing to pay $3.00 for 1000 impressions. Each impression that you get is costing you .3 cents.
An impression is when your ad shows up on someone's screen.
Here is where there may be some confusion. Just because you bid $3.00 doesn't mean that you are being charged $3.00/1000 for that impression. The way we charge your account for each impression is based on the lowest bid that is appearing on the screen with your ad when your ad is shown.
For instance, if you are running your ad on the ActiveRain.com home page there are two ads that show on that page. You will be charged whatever the person in the second position is bidding. So if you are bidding $3/1000 and they are bidding $2.50/1000 you will be charged at $2.50/1000.
There are some areas of the site where there are three ads showing at once. In this instance, when your ad shows up, you are being charged at the price the lowest bidder is bidding.
